Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Arun valley and an eastern approach to Everest lies on Eastern Nepal. There is endless variety in this part of the country and camping is mandatory. Most ethnic groups are represented and there are many nice villages. The area has hot rice growing districts and also encompasses the cooler tea-growing region if Ilam.The heavily populated Middle Hills are gouged by the mighty Arun Kosi, which is flanked by the massifs of Kanchenjunga and Makalu.
Treks here tend to be expensive compare to Everest, Annapurna and Langtang, since you and your gear most travel to eastern Nepal by bus or plane. The treks are also long because it requires almost two weeks to travel from most trailheads to the high mountains. This area also offer high crossing passes, Superb mountain view including Third Highest mountain of Earth and wild Makalu, 16 different variety of Rhododendron, picturesque village, impressive display of wild flower, an abundance of wild life and of course friendly local people.
